Open Positions

Teacher

  • Full-time teaching responsibilities.

  • Addresses and resolves student concerns, communicates with parents as needed.

  • Attends or leads daily prayer; attends, records attendance, and supports student behavior during weekly Liturgy.

  • Assists with supervising, supporting or coordinating common arts instruction.

  • Participates in and chaperones field trips and special programming.

  • Takes an active role in school events such as annual picnic, open houses, back to school night, concerts, art shows, track and field days, and more.

  • Promote and cultivate St. John Chrysostom School’s mission, vision, and purpose.

  • Proficiently articulate an Orthodox Christian worldview to students and parents.

  • Possess and exhibit a deep commitment to, and passion for, classical Christian education.

  • Foster an orderly, joyful, and authentic atmosphere in the classroom.

  • Support students in conflict resolution; uphold SJCS polices and code of conduct, including rules for behavior and the discipline policy for students in the classroom.

  • Prepare lessons, units, projects, and assessments to meet learning objectives in conjunction with the selected curriculum.

  • Maintain attendance and academic records; communicate regularly with parents, including two parent teacher conferences per year.

  • Work with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention.

  • Ensure active student participation in SJCS weekly schedule of academic, spiritual, and common arts activities.

  • Demonstrates flexibility and work with the Head of School to cover other duties and needs as requested.

Qualifications & Additional Expectations

  • Chrismated Orthodox Christian, in good standing with the Church.

  • Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of Science.

  • Masters in relevant content area or education-related field preferred, though not required.

  • Classical education degree, certificate, or training a plus, though not required.

  • Preferred minimum of 1-3 years teaching experience in classical or private schools.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Consistently demonstrates the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion.

  • Proficient (or willingness to be trained) with word processing, email, and other education-related software, including school management software.

  • Regularly participates in the services of the Church.

  • Attends to Holy Scripture and cherishes the lives of the Saints.

  • Reads good books and seeks to cultivate good taste in music, art, poetry, and literature.

  • Passionate about helping students cultivate good academic habits.
